We recently came across Australian songstress Vanessa Elisha and we think we’re on to something! The Australia-born artist has been putting out quality music for some time now. Working with plethora of producers you may know like xxyyxx and GXNXVS, the singer-songwriter is most-definitely on the rise. Her Soundcloud which holds some of the best music has already hit well over 1 million plays.
In our chat session we ask her a series of questions that relate to topics including her humble beginnings, career plans, growth as an artist, music, the entertainment industry, food, travel and love. Read her words below and get acquainted with the dopeness of Vanessa Elisha.
What or who inspires you the most?
Anyone who can say that they have created something from nothing inspires me.
What do you think it takes to be a successful musician?
Hard work more than anything, you can be the most talented person in the world, if you’re lazy you will never get anywhere.
What is the hardest part being a female artist in a somewhat male-dominated industry?
Since starting your journey, what has been the greatest lesson you’ve learned?
To back yourself, your music and who you are as an artist every step of the way.
So you’re an Aussie. How is life different there compared to the states?
I guess that depends on where in Australia and where in the States you live. But I’ve found more recently, especially after playing at EMC Australia that there is so much talent in Australia, as well as in the States. R&B culture here is probably a bit smaller but that’s all starting to change.
Who is your favorite rapper right now?
Meek Mill vs. Drake?
Drake hands down.
In your opinion, what is the best type of food in LA?
Burgers and fries.
How would you recap your 2015 in one sentence?
All about growth.
What is your main goal in 2016?
Big tour worldwide & releasing more music.
Words of wisdom to people chasing their dreams in music?
Be kind to everyone, you never know who might help you at the end of the day or who your kindness might help.
What do you think about love and having a heart?
I think its great.

If you could work with one artist right now, who would it be and why?
If I could dream, Drake – because he says everything I’m thinking so simply but like no other person has.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
I have a connection to everything I’ve written. Right now Out of Time & Two Bars jump out at me, I guess its because its my most current work.

Because I love music more than anything and nothing makes me happier.

They’ve helped a lot. It’s given everyone a platform to share their music more easily and let the word spread about good music.
Lastly, long-term goals or talents you plan on bringing to life?
Making the best music I possibly can is my main goal.
