The uniform designs for this season’s All-Star Game, set for Feb. 16 in New Orleans, leaked on the Internet on Thursday before being officially unveiled by the league later in the day.
The East and West designs are similar to the “Big Logo” jerseys that 10 teams wore in Christmas Day games. The East version is blue with greenish-teal trim, while the West version is red with purple trim.
“Each year, we look forward to developing a unique on-court look for the players that pays homage to the host city and adds to the excitement of this highly anticipated game,” Chris Grancio, head of global basketball sports marketing for adidas, said in a release. “This year’s All-Star collection reflects New Orleans’ festive musical history while also providing the premium performance elements that NBA athletes have grown accustomed to.”
The All-Star designs represent the latest step in the league’s relentless drive to add sleeved jerseys to its uniform portfolio. Players have given the sleeved designs mixed reviews, with some saying the sleeves are too restrictive.
